AIGA DC Wants You!
AIGA DC is looking for design professionals who are interested in giving their time, sharing their skills, and offering advice to students. This fall, AIGA DC plans to participate in a mentoring initiative called Create Don’t Hate! By participating, students receive the tools and guidance they need from their mentor to create a billboard with a powerful message on tolerance.
Our goal is to empower students and give them a real-world experience. With design-thinking to communicate their ideas, exhibit their potential, and take action in their communities we hope to make a difference in the student’s life and create public awareness in the DC area. This cannot be achieved without mentors.
The framework is set, now all we need is YOU! We cannot move forward with this mentoring initiative without the support of our local community. For more information on how you can participate in DC’s Create Don’t Hate! mentoring initiative please contact Dian Holton by Monday, Aug 24. Help us make a difference in the DC community!

I so agree with clmann. I'm a recent grad (been in the workforce for 3 years) and I am longing for a design master to show me their kung-fu. It would be so helpful and I think, mutually beneficial.

As the sole designer at an engineering firm and still somewhat new to the field, I have many times longed to have a design mentor. Before clicking on the link for this event, I assumed it was open to anyone. I don't think the need for mentorship is limited to students, or another way of putting it, we all could use a mentor, there's always someone a bit further down the road to lend a helpful voice.

Could we open the mentorship up to recent grads/those still new to the field?
